Signal Booster

It is predicted that the market for the cell phone signal booster is going to rapidly increase and when you examine the technology, it is easy to see why. The signal booster contains three parts: an external antenna, a signal amplifier and an internal antenna for rebroadcasting.

The external antenna will pick up any existing signal. You can assess the best place to attach this antenna by walking around your property with your cell phone, looking for the highest point in reception. It should be noted that many signal booster packages come with a device to detect this area.

Once the antenna has been attached externally, it will send the signal to the amplifier. As the name suggests, this will amplify or increase the existing signal. The cheaper home amplifiers will provide gain of 20dB to 50dB. The more expensive amplifiers will increase the signal even further to over 50dB. The amplifier will then transport the signal to the internal antenna that will equally distribute the signal in all directions.

There are two main advantages of using a cell phone signal booster apart from the increased reception. The first is an increased battery life. This is because lower power will be required to rebroadcast the signal to the amplifier because of how close the cell phone is to it. Poor battery life has often been a major problem with smart phones, so any increase in performance is very welcome.

The second advantage is a health benefit. Because the rebroadcast signal is so close, the phone will emit a lower level of radiation. The long-term effects of cell phone radiation are largely unknown; this is because the cell phone is still a relatively new invention. But any reduction in radiation can only be seen as a positive.
